From the Perfect Circle: modus operandi cluster series, begun in 2003 and continues. It is a graphite and mixed media drawing on Conventry paper mounted on board and floated in a handmade 8 X 9" black lacquered frame. This Perfect Circle: modus operandi series began in 2003 and initiated my use of the "number" as a way to identify man's intrusion into the chaos of nature and art. The process develops from an initially placed partial circle on the Conventry paper, using a variety of media, and then layering very specific graphite pencils and sticks over and through the circle, attempting to cover, diffuse or eliminate its presence. The process is meant to reveal the "struggle" between perfection and imperfection.
